Oklahoma calling!

The installation Projected Poetry was also a winner. This interactive work used hundreds of words that were projected onto the wall that created a simplified dictionary relating to the concept of “creativity”.
As you walked near to the piece you stirred up the words and were able to select a word to publish in the sentence at the top of the wall.

The Final Day

Well what an amazing week, I am truly exhausted but over the moon about the performance of everyone involved in the Oklahoma Creativity Conference and project.

I would like to thank Rebecca, Steve M,Steve W, Patricia and Derek for their unwavering support, with each one of our party,I know Jack, Benjahmen, Aydan, Kevin and Shauna will hold the memories of Oklahoma forever in their hearts.

We arrived back at school to be greeted by all of our parents who were astounded by all that their children had achieved in their time away.

Thank you everyone in Oklahoma for making us so welcome and bending over backwards to make our journey a success. It has been a wonderful experience and one I will never forget.

We spent our final morning in Oklahoma going to see all 4 sites of the 2010 Creativity World Biennale. Lots of use of light and new technologies. They even opened up 2 of the spaces especially for us. One of the installations needed four people to interact by blowing into rings that looked like bubble blow rings to create an image. The same artist group, SuperUber, had another installation which projected a digital layer of light onto cubes…..these images also sychronised  with sounds to play with our visual perception and create 3D illusions.

Well done Stormont House and Harding Academy!

I am completely blown away reading the blog posts and the many emails about your fantastic presentation event!  200 big questions? That would take over a school year to answer if you managed to answer 1 every day!

We are all so proud of you, and of the great teamwork we hear about between our two schools.  I’m sure you’re having a smashing time now the pressure is off!

With love and best wishes

Kevin McDonnell, Headteacher (Principal), Stormont House School

Arts

Acadmey, I hope you don’t mind but I joined two of them to be my friends on facebook.

We met Sir Ken Robinson, took an photo of him and give him one of our shirts we made. We had to make different drawings on these boxes and either act with them or wear them as faces on our heads, Like I did with mine. LOL. Hope to see you soon.

P.S. We went around asking people their big questions and now we got up too at least…….

240 questions.

I am proud of all of us at Stormont House.

Glad to hear from you, Love you Mum and Dad. XXX

The opening ceremony of the conference was brillianto! I am very happy that we did our performance without mucking up! I felt fantastic afterwards and especially when people wanted to talk to me about my learning.

Aydan says….

Yesterday was the day of our presentation at the conference. At first I thought it would be a really hard day but it was really brilliant. Our presentation went really well and everyone did fantastic,

Afterwards we set up our own “pop up” learning space in the conference centre lobby. The boxes were piled up like a robot asking for questions. We went out to the people and asked them for their “BIG QUESTIONS”  and we got about 200!!!! Some questions were funny, some were weird but all were thought provoking? There were lots on creativity and education.
